The most notable form of orthopedic teeth realignment options is braces, but in recent times clear aligners such as Invisalign have been a more sought-after choice in the realm of teeth straightening.

So the real question is Braces or Invisalign?

Invisalign or Braces: What are braces?

In orthodontic treatment, metal brackets, wires, and rubber bands are used to correct teeth alignment and straighten them.

In 1819, this technique was developed for restructuring smiles and has been an effective way of fixing smiles ever since.

What makes Invisalign better than braces?

1. Invisalign has better aesthetics.

2. Invisalign is a lightweight, multi-tray aligner that fits on your teeth perfectly and discreetly.

The Invisalign aligners cover the teeth, making them hard to see with the naked eye. Adults find this to be great since their professional and personal lives won’t be dominated by it.

Whereas braces are made of metal and wires that cover the tops of your teeth, the brackets will still be noticeable even if you try color-changing to make them more discrete.

3. Invisalign is simple to use and maintenance is easy.

Because Invisalign is not permanently cemented to your teeth, it can be easily removed for brushing, flossing, and eating. It is critical, however, that Invisalign be worn for at least 22 hours every day in order to achieve the best results.

Additionally, people with Invisalign can eat whatever they like, whenever they want, whereas people with braces must avoid certain foods and maintain a rigorous cleaning regimen.

4. Invisalign is comfortable.

A stiff toothbrush also wears down enamel. This can cause abrasions and receding gums, exposing the roots of your teeth.

Brush your teeth with a soft bristle brush, and leave the medium and stiff bristles for cleaning countertops. When your enamel wears away, like when you eat acidic foods, your dentin will be exposed and your teeth will become overly sensitive.

Invisalign or Braces: Why Invisalign would not be right for me.

Aside from being comfortable, easy to use, and aesthetic, Invisalign is also convenient. Still, even with all of that said, you may not be a good candidate for Invisalign. So, what makes it not a good option for you?

It is your dentists job to determine the severity of your case when it comes to realignment during your first appointment. The Invisalign system can adjust your bite and realign your teeth, but only with small adjustments. As a result, braces are a better option in more severe cases when it comes to realigning your jaw, teeth, and facial structure because braces are made of metal brackets, wires, and sometimes rubber bands, making them stronger than traditional braces.

Consult your dentist or orthodontist about whether Invisalign or braces are best for you.
