A Brighter Smile
Zoom teeth whitening is a great way to give you that brighter smile without undergoing major dental surgery or dental rehab. Instead, it saves you time and puts you on track for a whiter, more energized smile by lightening up any major or minor discoloration on your tooth enamel and dentin.
How Zoom Teeth Whitening Works
In place of using gels like many well-known teeth whitening treatments you can receive at a dental office or over the counter, Zoom teeth whitening utilizes a hydrogen peroxide gel that is applied to your teeth. We then use the Zoom light technology to activate the hydrogen peroxide gel, which begins to bleach the teeth by removing or significantly lightening any visible stains or discoloration to your teeth.
Hydrogen peroxide is a chemical compound made of H202 that kills germs that cause bad breath, reduces bacteria buildup, acts as a bleaching agent, and diminishes gum inflammation.
Is Zoom Teeth Whitening Safe and Effective?
The procedure is safe and does not cause any harm to your existing dentition. However, I recommend you consult with your dentist to ensure you are a good candidate for this teeth whitening procedure.
The most significant side effect of laser teeth whitening is sensitivity to your teeth. Your teeth may be more sensitive to hot or cold liquids or foods and susceptible to staining. Therefore, you will want to avoid colorful foods like pasta with marinara sauce, ketchup, and fruits like raspberries or blueberries that could stain your teeth until the new color of your teeth is locked in, which generally takes about 5 days after your treatment.
I recommend an old-school trick for patients who can’t resist the urge to eat colorful foods or consume beverages like red wine. First, try rubbing Vaseline on the front of your teeth. Vaseline will act as a barrier to prevent the liquids that stain teeth from penetrating your new white teeth. Then, before finishing your meal or beverage, take a moment to swish water around in your mouth for several seconds and repeat. When it is possible, use a Waterpik or lightly brush your teeth to remove any additional residue.
When To Avoid Zoom Teeth Whitening
If you have one or more of the following oral dental issues, I recommend you resolve those issues before using the Zoom teeth whitening procedure:
- Existing cavities
- Noticeable tooth decay
- Cracks in the enamel
- Mild to extreme gum disease
If you do not have any of the above oral dental issues, I recommend you schedule a routine tooth cleaning a day or so before your teeth whitening appointment.
I Can’t Stop Staring At My Teeth
There are many benefits to Zoom teeth whitening, besides being a safe and effective solution to whiter teeth and a great smile. It can also provide a healthy dose of self-confidence.
It’s essential to note that one treatment doesn’t mean your teeth will be forever bright and white. The bleaching doesn’t last forever. To maintain your white teeth, we can provide you with customized trays that you take home.
For 30 minutes, once a month, using the at-home customized trays as instructed by your dental professional will maintain the whiteness of your teeth.
